Class Summary

Learn the basics of color theory and color mixing in a simple and intuitive way! We will be using gouache paints for this class.

No previous painting or drawing experience is required.

Format

Each class will begin with a live instructor demonstration and explanation of the week’s topic followed by exercises and instructed painting time for the rest of the class.

Syllabus

Week 1 The 3 basic elements of color and the “new” primary colors. Practice with value.

Week 2 Temperature and the warm/cool primary palette.

Week 3 Color constancy, harmony, and creative color
